Ah, thats a shame. Guess it saves me $40 and a sub fee though, thanks for the reply!

Evelyn is being a cynic. You can still be competitive on NA ping just that if you go up against an equally or better skilled EU player with 10ms to the server, it's not going to be "as" easy. That said this is only ever really relevant for duelling. The game is mostly built around group play which throws most of the intricacies of duelling out the window anyway.

I'd encourage you to give it a try if this kind of game interests you. Also check out this blog post about how the combat system is built around allowing people from all over the world to play on one server:

I can't really see myself spending money much less paying a sub for a game that doesn't have a server on my continent. I was also trying to get 2 friends to play who live on the west coast of NA and their ping will likely be even worse than mine. That dev update doesn't really do anything to alleviate my concerns there. Thanks for the info though!

Played MO1 since beta and for a few short weeks I got to play Mortal Royal on an NA sever and it was like a whole new world of game play. No NA server really isn't that bad on MO2 the combat is very slow and in group fights it's not a big deal.

Yeah, sounds like you're just bringing concepts to the game that might not bear on it at all. How do you know your ping won't be good enough without trying the game. If you actually cared you'd play the stress test in a couple weeks and give it a try. Given that you're ready to discard the game after hearing there isn't an NA server I'm surprised you cared enough to make a post.

I have played the game on the west coast for the past year and have never even noticed.

If you are trying to be the best twitch 1v1 precision dueler where despite the design of the combat system a difference of 50 or so ms ping ruins the game for you, again I think you might be missing the concept of the game.

Also Evelyn, if you want people to play the game (as someone that's been here for a while, so I assume wants it to succeed), maybe you should re-examine your responses to new people.

You can be mad if you want but I'm gonna be real about it. There won't be any NA servers and for people on the west coast that's how it's gonna be in 1v1s and smallscale. It sucks but it is what it is.

I played fast paced games with a high ping before & was on a leader board, Quake 1 & 2. Had a 16,8k connection & got into the mid teens on kills many times.

I think generally the US players won't be affected as much as those living in the Asia-Pacific region. I've watched numerous players duel both in video and in-game, they seem to be able anticipate and counter their opponent's moves in real-time.

You might have a bit more of an issue if you're living in countries in the Asia-Pacific region like Australia for example. But lately I've noticed that even lag isn't as big of an issue as it used to be on my end. Could be that they improved things under the hood, possibly.

your able to play even as a aussie and be competitive. But still NA server location is better ping over all for the playerbase and they should move it when the contract allows it.

You guys can't blame the guy for not really being interested in a game that doesn't even have a server on his continent. It honestly does suck and gives you a disadvantage to some degree...and everyone is going to have a different opinion on how much that effects them. There are a lot of people out there that want to be on equal playing fields as everyone else...especially in a "skill based game". I agree that it is only noticeable in small scale and duels...but that IS an important part of the game.

Not having an NA server is going to push a ton of potential players away. Thats just fact. However, I wouldn't want to split the population into two servers unless later on down the road we have enough to fill up both an NA and EU. It is what it is. We make do with what we have because there isn't another game like this.

Don't overestimate the time you are doing PvP! 90% or even 95% of you time you will not do PvP. And even if you are fighting, most other players will be on the same continent as you are and play with the same ping.

sure at the start you will likely spend the vast majority of your time building your toon and gathering materials. later once you've bought all your books and got a supply chain in place for materials, you can spend the majority of your time on pvp if you want. depending how successful you are, you may spend more time looking for fights or rebuilding after loss.

supposedly there will be decent pve dungeons to spend time in as well, tho time will tell if anything like that actually materializes. really the choice is yours at that point as to where you'd rather spend your time

I’ve been asking for a NA server since 2010. It aint happening sadly. One of the main reasons MO will alway be very niche.

Bhare’s thinking is what most serious gamers will think. A premium sub full loot pvp game with high ping and no option to lower it….pass.

And to all those that keep saying it doesnt effect gameplay, you are kidding yourself. It does. You are always playing with a handicap as the large majority of players are from EU. Yes, US players make it work and find ways to compensate, but its still a handicap.

hopefully SV wakes up one day and makes at least Sarducca a US server.

As a West Coast player whose only available high speed connection is DSL with 3.5 down and .65 up, the ping impact is real. That said, the game is also fun. You should base your decision on whether to play or not based on game content, not on the distance to the server.

To my knowldeghe the stress test next month will be for free. So you could try it out without spending any money. Maybe it's not as bad as you might imagine. This aint no Counterstrike.

The continents having different server locations is hopefully what they'll end up doing. It'll still require the game to run good with high ping due to people crossing over but it'll also leave the option to play where your ping is good. Will be tough for me as a EU player though, I liked ducca more than Myrland. But this new myrland is damn fancy though and if ducca upgrade is even cooler than last time then i'll be jelly. Would still make the trip there even if it was a US server, ping wouldnt be too bad for me anyway.

The majority of the people who play mortal are NA but for some unknown reason SV won't make an NA server. It's been this way since MO released. You can't fix stupid.
