The title pretty much says it all.

I know a lot of people dont like tamers and they have been called "OP" and all that. I would however argue that tamers are in a bad spot at the moment. The main problem is the lack of flexibility to move anywhere that is not your Hub City if you want to use any high tier pets. (Which are basically the only choice lets be honest)

That means to stay relevant you will need a horse in a lot of situations and that in turn means you wont have access to your powerful pets. With the recent nerf to mages on horseback that now resulted in another ~100 primary points being lost to Mounted Magery or in my case ~200 points because I didnt have Controlled Riding before (It hurt but I could live without it). There might be people arguing that you dont need to be a mage to be a tamer but I seriously doubt it. Pets get chunked EXTREMELY hard by Longbows currently and a lot of the strong creatures are large enough that in bigger fights they cant properly enter without getting destroyed by Longbowmen if you are not healing it.

Long story short that last addition of Mounted Magery made Tamers extremely tight on points. If Beast Mastery releases, things will be damn near impossible to fit. Thats why I would propose Animal Care being moved into Professions to free up those 100 points. I personally think its more of a profession skill anyways. Either that or make pets easier to transport (Idk like a skill that puts them into your inventory with a 2min cast time or something).

Also please keep in mind that this is obviously my opinion and if you think otherwise please post your opinions down below with as much respect as you can muster.

Need to move taming as well. Most of the people who really hate pets want this and you could balance it by adding expert creature control and increasing the pp needed for controlling aggressive pets.

Being able to tame horses is really a must if you arent near cities. Horses die all the time for random reasons. Or get stuck. Now you are forced to walk which is horrible game design.

Its 50 points you will not have if you want to leave town.

Horse taming at least for low level horses should not require skill points. Moving taming to professions will only move mandatory SP from action to profession, and we have equidae there already thank you.

Just so I understand this correctly: Expert Creature Control would be another 100 points (but profession points since Taming and CC skills are in the profession tree in that version) and would increase your maximum pp to beyond the current possible 100 and then rebalance the PP of top tier pets around the new cap?

If so that could work but would also add so many action skill points to tamers that it might make them too easy to splash into builds by just dropping a profession.

As a Fat Mage, I feel your pain. Unfortunately this will lead to every pvp focsed player having a tamed pet, which is bad.

The issue you have can rather be resolved with other mechanics, but this is not the way.

Horses can be put into a special category so that everyone can have one horse without spending any points on it or maybe a bit of points (like 25) for a high level horse. Not like being able to ride it defines a build, you also need combat skills that already cost a bunch of points.
