I'm someone who lives by the idea that you can't judge something properly unless you understand it.
With the recent patch out I stuck my head in the game for a few days and I've taken away a few things I've seen I really do not like.
Why is it mounts so quickly traverse slopes, stairs, and inclines?
You all may be familiar with Morin Khur and the scaffolding that is attached to the eastern part of the city. It has many many stairs which go up at a forty-five degree angle or higher yet mounts can travel up it as if there is no problem.
Why is that? Would it not make more sense to dismount and walk up the scaffolding?
But I digress this can be observed in many locations where mounts simply ignore these steep inclines and bypass them not only effortlessly but quickly.
I'm someone who enjoys the player versus player interaction, and the way this works doesn't sit well with me. Mounts are already ever present in the world, please do not allow them to be four wheelers. It makes for an extremely unsatisfying experience being outsped on foot by a mount going up stairs.
My solutions?
1. Slow the mount speed down when going up inclines.
2. Dramatically increase the stamina drain on mounts when going up inclines.
3. Allow mounts to travel up inclines but exponentially slow down to a halt (meaning if the incline is to large the mount can't traverse it.)
I get this was done for more than likely a quality of life reason but some players choose locations to live and play in game to avoid certain players and or playstyles.
Living in an extremely hilly area only to have mounts still have full control and a massive terrain advantage is discouraging to players on foot.
