MO2 players selling XP boosts for in game money.

Currently on the mo2 discord under the "services" tab theres multiple people selling XP boosts for in game money and i asked robmo if what theyre doing is allowed and he said "I am under the impression it is fine. It is a sandbox game and they are offering a service in game for in game gold/items"

no, its not a service.. its an exploit to skip actually having to play the game to get your character leveled.. its XP boosting

its an exploit bc the person buying the xp doesn't have to be part of a guild or own property/chancery, some of the things you need to actually do the supply runs in the first place to earn the xp. all they have to do is join the guild selling the xp for a very short time hand over the packages to their guild steward and they instantly get their xp then they can immediately leave the XP sellers guild and carry on with their game like they didn't just skip potentially hundreds of thousands of XP.. if this isn't an exploit idk what is...
You also know its 100% an exploit bc when you search up on certain websites that sell in game items/xp online for real money they have a whole fucking page dedicated to xp/level boosting..

this kind of practice incentivizes people to buy gold with irl money off these dogshit RMT websites to easily level their char and skip the content without having to do what normal players do to level up.
Players with money on their main could easily just pay for this to level their 2nd char in a way that is unnatural in terms of how the mechanics are meant to work in the game..
Guilds with vast amounts of money could easily pay for this service for their own guild members to get them maxed out for in game advantages.

the leveling in mo2 is supposed to not be easy and the mastery skills can be very OP.. skipping all the work to attain a high level mastery just by paying gold to skip the content defeats the whole purpose of the game being hardcore. and before anyone says hardcore isn't about grinding, yes it is.. hardcore = not easy... if its so difficult for you to level normally you gotta pay in game money to skip the leveling that in of itself is hardcore..

in the post on the mo2 discord "services" tab thats selling the xp boost they provide a link to a video,
in the video the guy literally blurs out his guilds name and hides his health bar with his chars name on it, if its allowed by the devs why even blur/hide your guilds/characters name? already kinda sus then...

on the same xp boost sale post multiple people in the replies have stated that they've purchase hundreds of thousands of xp from this one seller.. theres multiple sellers who have posted this same "service"

1,560,000 xp sold just going off what is said in the post replies by +reps.. 1,560,000 divided by 10k = 312.5 x 1800 gold = 562,500 gold would have been made in 6-7 months not including all the sales that were not disclosed in the post replies and there were a lot of +reps that didn't mention how much they bought.. this also wouldn't include all the purchases people made who didn't even post a +rep reply on the thread.

you can go and look at the post itself and count yourself how many people are in the replies of the post and I know maybe not every single person there bought the xp boosts but for example - counting 50 of those players in the post replies who didn't disclose how much xp they bought and estimating the minimum amount that they would have probably bought would be 10k minimum XP (less than 10k xp could have been sold but its more likely 10k XP or more would have been sold to each person) we confirmed in dm's with the xp seller that the price for 20k XP was 3,600 gold.. so 10k xp would be 1,800 gold.. so 50 x 1,800 gold = 90k gold just from 50 of the ones who replied on the post, even tho theres more than 50 people in the replies on the post and thats guessing all those 50 people took the same 10k xp amount which is highly improbable, it'd most likely be more.

Imagine having a great mastery system that lets you build your character up more with all kinds of specialties to unlock that helps your build out greatly depending on how much time you put into it only for it to not matter at all if you can just pay someone to skip the leveling process with in game money. all u gotta do it deliver packages lmfao.. it'll just be a matter of time before everyone and their alt accounts are max mastery level via this cheese exploit and its kind of ridiculous that the GMs are even letting it happen..

SV claim the "service" of selling xp boosts is allowed bc it doesnt break the "game rules". yet if we look at the beautiful ss i took of a convo in the actual XP boost discord post you can see these people who buy the xp boost even acknowledge its exploiting but they dont care.. I was talking about this, and the problem isn't as much the sell-boost, but just the fact that you can boost people in your guild, massively prol in that manner. So the rich get richer yet again.

They need to make it so people can be sieged out so all of these assholes can lose their smugness haha.

It could be fixed if Henrik would just say, y'know... we tried this end game grind stuff, but it's too hard to balance. Think of all of the bullshit added by... FLUX FARM, TRINKETS, MASTERY. It's almost like every scandal in MO2 history, other than the bag transport thing and the beginning where people were exploiting haven, is related to these things. RMT, hacking, it all goes into that.

I would really prefer a new server without all of this extra shit: no siege windows as they are, no mastery, no trinkets. Take a huge step back and try to run it again. Extra points if they decide to roll back to 3 mounts, but that's just ME as a purist. Then they can focus on fixing the combat and making the game fun.

Siege windows are needed...dunno how current system works though. Mastery gives something to do when not farming mats/pvping. And trinkets would be fine IF the good ones were easily accessible...just rare. Trinkets should be more for build diversity rather than some super duper expensive money sink and rng fest.

RMT is just inevitable and is near impossible for SV to fix without restricting trading. Idk of any game that has successfully stopped it without heavily impacting the game for every player (usually in a negative way). RMT is lame though.

It's inevitable, but it doesn't need to be game breaking.

There shouldn't need to be things to do beyond 'pvp' and upkeep of mats / territory stuff because the content in a sandbox should be dynamic enough. That's why it was OK to deal with how ass all of the pve was in MO, because it was just another resource, something you had to put moderate attention into or have a certain gear level (if not mounted) and then you mixed people in to that.

The problem with Trinkets is tru RMT which is people locking down the best spots to get the best ones and selling them for hundreds if not thousands of dollars, like no shit, for a perfect trink. Comparing it to MO1, you could put down money and get a keep maybe, get some stacks of ogh, get a bunch of stacks of gold. You were set, too, but you could lose all of that shit. It was an investment. The only investment for a trink is real money unless you are nub enough to accidentally lose it while you are recharging it.

Mastery is problematic because of what is outlined in this video. And I can honestly say this video helped put the nail in the coffin for MO for me, because I was considering going to derp around as I think some people I know still play, and I still have mats, etc, so I could do w/e for a free month. HOWEVER, this video shows someone boosting someone else's mastery with parcels (I think?) You should be able to extrapolate that people can boost anyone they want, so what you think of a as a farming goal means that big guilds can just be like come 2 person and boost relentlessly.

Since mastery and trinkets offer such a ridiculous advantage, it's game breaking, and it leads to the zergs getting everything, once again.

Siege windows are set by the defender, or they were, at some later date. The problem with that is they can get a zerg to protect them. I think a NO SIEGE window makes more sense. So people can have like 8 hours a day where they can't be sieged. Then I'd like to see some sort of a prolonged 'no siege' sort of thing people could use for days that might be really bogus to be sieged on (like Christmas for Americans or w/e,) and they could save up the time and take like a 10 day vacation (theoretically haha, if they used all of their time.) People could use it to not get sieged, but they would just get sieged after, so it wouldn't be that huge of an advantage. And if someone was like shit gotta work 18 hours today and people gonna siege me NO.

I dunno, man. I really think I could handle these problems better than SV can haha. I dunno why I waste time trying to express the way I think things should be. But yeah, I'll take social content and fluff content over grinding endlessly to gain % of power. That's bad enough, but since people can get boosted, it's superwack.

pretty sure this is another new xp booster "village" if you wana call it that lol bc i cant remember seeing this before... View attachment 6682

I'm glad you posted that this is happening. This is next level aids haha. Again, the selling is kinda wack, but knowing people can boost their buds is just infuriating. I thought you somehow meant they were bringing people on dungeon runs or something.

I dont see an issue with it. Unless theyre botting. Labor = time = gold. In the end someone is spending time to get gold and someone is spending time to run parcels. If the parcel runners are somehow exploiting or automating any of this process and circumventing fair game flow then yes they need to be banned but if they are just running oxen across the map for hours on end they are no different then a truck driver in real life, an honest job.

I also do not see an issue with sub tokens for gold. In fact its probably mandatory in the current market to be competitive. At the end of the day its just time exchanging hands like anything else.

the issue is that people can boost their friends in mastery which a lot of people said "there is need for an end game grind," and with people boosting them, it's not end game grind, it's people using a set up to power level people's mastery. It's ridiculous. You shouldn't be able to gain mastery from someone else's work because it's something you can't lose.

not only is what emdash said correct but you also gotta think about how much in game money these people are making.. which is absolutely ridiculous amounts for a game like this and then how all that money will then effect the economy as a whole or where that in game money actually goes.. it could easily be then sold on rmt websites which theres a high probability it does.. if you make 100k in this game your set for the rest of your game time.. what are these people actually doing with hundreds of thousands of gold? i swear half of teh mortal online community are literal npcs that actually cant think outside the box.. you know the supply box you run bc your so trash at the game you dont even know how to level a char lmfao..

I doubt theyre making much more then the average player grinding, but personally I dont know anything about it.

Any parcel gamers in the chat elaborate on average gold/hr earned while running parcels?

If anything parcel gaming is less impacting to the economy then a dungeon grinder because it doesn't actually introduce new gold, it actually removes it(slowly)

This an MMO, the primary endgame of all sandbox MMOs is economic. Mortal isn't an esport, if someone wants to get rich by doing logistics then who are we to say "no" in a sandbox of all things. Players monetize skill points in EVE online as well. Limiting this is just telling players "You have to grind this particular way even though its a sandbox bro". We shouldn't tell players they aren't allowed to get rich and then purchase skill points because in the end they are just exchanging time for time, which is fair and the whole point of a Sandbox is to let freedom over how players spend their time. Stifling it is against the principles of a sandbox.

Haha, very crafty argument. Don't get me wrong, I like your style! I think the talk here is explicitly about RMT, but we have forum rules so we can take it to the PMs at best. Then you have to remember please: Heinrich said: "Not many players are rich in MO2." Not nice of you to use the sandbox argument defending shady praxises. When we miss cooking, simple postal service, and so on.

do you think it's OK for other people to be able to boost your mastery. That is the essential question, even beyond everything else. There are other problems, but that is one to easily address. If you do, ah well, but I personally think that's bullshit.
