No, it won't. Why would I need to do something in order to earn the right to dance some weird dance?

Because you are collecting something. People feel a sense of accomplishment like going to get a cape. Same things its a cosmetic. Why should you just be allowed to do a werid dance. Where did you learn it from?

From a tribe dancer. It's not like they will put in some sensible quests, like pay 10g for learning a dance or help a hermit brew a soup for some secret fisherman sign. And most emotes are not something that is even supposed to be learned, like a flex emote or something.

title,

Just lock most of the emotes and add them to drops or task. Would make the game a whole lot more fun.

With the addition of the journal, I think there is a lot of potential for this idea. You make a good point about sense of achievement, and having certain emotes tied to different locations, creatures, or actions would be nice.

Having a super niche emote would be a badge of glory, much like other MMO titles. I don't think it detracts from MO being hardcore at all, while adding content and catering to a more casual audience at the same time.

You could do things like have a trigger for learning a insulting emote specific to each region by going to the inns and waiting there while drinking a beer or something.

I like the idea very much. Some emotes could be available at the beginning, but other could be learned by secret vendors or by drops.
