I never said bony, I said you didn't have to be obese which is the maximum weight. You can be stout or overweight and still be faster than most foot fighters.

You aren't going to have a pure mage if you go anything but bony, obese, or bulging though. You are forced into a hybrid build unless they rework how int scales. Of the three, bony is clearly inferior when it shouldn't be. The HP reduction is an understandable tradeoff for the increased speed, but the psyche reduction is incoherent and the int bonus should be higher in order to allow for sufficient dex investment to acquire that increased speed.

Mages are in a fairly bad spot right now, especially with the speeds. The speed gap needs to be a bit larger than what it currently is imo.

You're serious? Have you been following the forums? The vast majority disagree with your assertion of a mage being easy for both PvE and PvP. Thinking that not needing to craft weapons makes them easy is beyond ridiculous when weighting each classes pros and cons.

The argument that the classes should not be balanced due to a delusional idea that the game is meant for guild only PvP and thus we should sacrifice balance for anything but is absurd.

You mention viability but only in group fights. You're dismissing 1v1 type situations completely for your group battles. It's a small part of the game from your perspective, sure. Anyway, I get where you are coming from but I'm simply asking that both be balanced (Yes, it's possible) and I'm not sure why you're ok with anything other than that. Asking that all classes are balanced so they can have a fair shot at defending themselves 1v1 especially in a PvP focused game like this isa completely rational request.
I didn't say the class was easy, I said it was easy to get it to a viable point for a new and solo player. Look at the amount of work it takes to make a mage and the amount of work it takes to gear said mage 100% solo,. If you read what I said I clearly said that they can use pets to farm which may not be the strongest currently but will only get stronger as more mobs are added into the game.

My argument isn't that things shouldn't be balanced, just that it will impact other areas of the game and certain magic schools are different and specifically designed to be good in certain areas. Ecumenical is more supportive and there will be more to come that are perhaps better at 1v1s.

I couldn't disagree more. It's not easy to get a mage to a viable point for new or solo players specifically due to the imbalances in both PvE and PvP. You view viability as being able to buy armor or play support in a group. I view viable as being able to defend myself 1v1 in a PvP focused game and be able to farm (PvE). Viable would mean I'm not at a major disadvantage when I roll a mage.

Also, I shouldn't have to become a tamer or hybrid etc to be viable. I should simply pick any class and it should be relatively balanced. Obviously, balancing things is a bit challenging and I understand the worry about group PvP but something needs to be done in regards to balancing.

Ecumenical has plenty of offensive spells to use. It may be the intent to have that school support focused but if it's the first school someone gets then it needs to be more well rounded so you can survive a 1v1 type situations. Currently, a new player that's never played MO would be hard pressed to continue as a mage instead of re-rolling a Warrior.

Yea this isn't worth continuing. I gave you an example that hits your definition of viability (which is mine as well) but you dismissed it. It is an option and if you don't like it, that's fine, there are other options and there will be more magic schools that perhaps better fit what you're looking for. What you said isn't a statement of balance but just of preference.

Honestly, it wasn't worth continuing when you first stated it was easy for mages referencing not needing to craft weapons. Pure mages are what was being discussed not hybrids or mage/tamer builds.

Clearly, your real issue was the possible effect buffing mages would have on groups and that's totally understandable.

The biggest issue with your argument is that balance isn't based around 1v1 combat. It never will be either. Combat is balanced around group combat pure and simple. Henrik said this was the case and that because of how the game is designed will remain the case. For this simple fact you need to stop viewing viable as 1v1 capable or go a different build or play a different game cause you'll never be happy. Maybe if they put necromancy in again in the same way it was you'll have a mage school capable of 1v1ing most everyone but its still based around pet shit anyways for that kind of pvping.

Henrick stated that? Interesting, can you link that? Btw, I didn't say 1v1 only so.... yeah lol

Both 1v1 and group matter for a well balanced game. If he has no intention of overall balancing then well, best of luck.
