This is a part of the FAQ from the MO2 website.

Q: What happens when I log out from the game?

A: Your character will only safely log out in your player house or in an Inn that offers a log out service. If you log out in the wild or anywhere else your character will remain in the game world unprotected for a certain time period before it gets auto logged out. This means you have to be careful how you logout without risking your life/items you currently carry.

@Henrik Nyström Can you tell us how long our character will stay in game after we log out? This has the potential to completely change our planned play style.

what planned play style? 😮
GK has no inn and only 1 bank and it will be potentially a long time before player houses so not being able to log out with stuff is gonna suck.

Also going to dungeons or out into the world farming will be hard because it is so far to everything and if I don't know for sure I have 2 hours or whatever to play, I need to stay near a town with an inn if my character is going to stay in the world for very long.

Theres supposedly gonna be tents you can place to logout faster in like 5 mins, not sure if any of this will be implemented by release tho

that's understandable, i wonder if the lack of inn in GK is intended or it will be a currently empty building...

the farming thing makes sense too, yeah if we won't have tents or similar to instalogout, then we'll have to use bushes lol

The other towns have buildings with signs that are inns.

If a tent is 5 minutes that means without is more. :( I don't want to leave my char around GK geared for more than 5 mins after I log. Running to the bank naked to gear up sucks, too.

For farming it matters what they mean by stay in game, if you stay standing around, a bush won't help, if laying on the ground it may.

Eh I think its overall better than, naked f2p scout, zerg logs in, zerg logs out, no fight.

It might become 1 group is at the bank the other groups can't play though, because you either had to log out naked or someone killed you and took your gear while you were offline. The idea is dumb, never liked it in other games.

Edit: added. In this game it will be even more annoying because fights matter more, gear is harder to get, etc. You can't just pick up some stones and make a weapon, some leaves and make armor.

i guess they must have a plan... or maybe they don't want GK to be "livable" at all... just a a dangerous spot where you only mine and risk pks... pks home would become only kranesh if there's an inn there

are you going to be a pk? why you want to live in GK? for tephra mining?

I kind of like the idea, it might promote knowing locations / towns even more so because now log out spots aren't just 'log out' and come back when you're ready, you have to keep your safety in mind unless you're in one of these places or using an item to speed up the log out process.

Gaul Kor was never intended to be a nice place to live. Mats got pretty furious when players demanded to have a food vendor.

It is supposed to be a literal shit hole full of thugs. So, no armchair by the fire to log out in. But you get tephra and blast furnaces.

Yeah, but being killed when you are logged out and can't defend yourself is lame. It completely runs counter to the idea where player skill matters (please don't say that choosing a place to log counts as player skill, because there is no place where you won't be found around these towns.)
I care about how many times I die and about developing the highest level of skill I can.

Kranesh is a cramped shit-hole where my game barely runs, I don't think half the population can live out of there. Everyone having to log out in the same place there would be a joke, anyway. You would just get camped before you can get into the game. Keeping your safety in mind won't matter because there will be nothing to do to keep yourself safe, hiding won't work because people will make it a point to search and kill all sleepers.

They aren't saying it will be a long timer before you log out where you can watch the area, they are saying stay in game after you log out.

Of course, the degree of how bad this is depends on how long your character will be in game thus why I posted this thread.

I don´t think anything was wrong with the old system and the whole safe space system to log out seems more trouble than it´s worth. Continuing a trend of "fixing" things that weren´t broken and breaking things that worked.

My point is that if there is a place in Myrland where there should NOT be an Inn or safe space - it should be GK.

Kranesh just looks like shit, and everything around it. I plan to stay away from it with my guild / friends.

Also I'm aware of the staying in game, hence actually knowing safer spots and or locations. I don't think they mean staying in the game perma. if not meeting one of the requirements to log out instantly / faster.

You have to remember it may be a year or years before we have houses and keeps, there are few choices for banking outside of blue towns.

There are no safe spots in or near town for more than a very few minutes, and if you manage to find something all it will take is for 1 person to see you once and the spot will be blown.

well i hope everything will be optimized eventually lol

if kranesh will get an inn... well just be careful when you approach it, if you want to play a pk lol

i doubt we'll stay in game until next login anyway (like in RUST if you know it)

You can't be careful when you are logging in, your char stands there for half a minute before you see into the game.
I hope so, too on the optimization.
I never liked those casual games much and that is where systems like this belong.

(serious question) did you actually experienced this half-minute thing? or you talking about MO1?

i guess you can resolve it with a 5 min "immunity" where you cannot kill/be killed/do harm

I base it on watching people log into the game, how long they stand before looking around or moving. I suspect it varies, some people with a faster computer take less, some with a slower, more.
There is no need to add a new system, just keep the one we already know works.
