Like do I have to worry about a random group of griefers who decide they don't want my house there? Or can I sleep soundly knowing my house is probably safe?

Destroying a house with hammers is a massive undertaking. It would take a very angry zerg with more man hours than they know what to do with.
If we go off MO1 values, destroying a home with siege (When that makes it in) is more expensive than building one. Of course a home is more than the frame. It's the furniture, the contents stored inside etc. So you may still lose more than they spent to destroy it.
But no. Some random griefer with a hair up their butt is unlikely to destroy your home.

I believe a group of 15 people with a large supply of mauls tested it on a house that wasn't even fully built. It took over 2 hours.
