One of the biggest issues with having a pet currently is pathfinding. Even when walking on foot it is extremely easy to lose you pet due to pathfinding or bugged terrain. Sometimes the only way to find your pet is to log out and in again so it spawns next to you.

Here is a better solution: give us the ability to teleport our pet to our current location.
It's essentially the same workaround people are already using.


  • Make the teleport cast animation slow and tedious enough so it can't be used in the middle of PvP combat, else people will hide pets and teleport them in the middle of a fight.
  • Give the teleport a 2 min cooldown so people don't spam teleport their own pet all over the place.

It's a very simple and easy solution to a very complicated problem. It can easily be be put into lore, and the animation can be something akin to the already existing respawn animation. It is also one of the most common solutions in games in general.

If we're addressing this as a bandaid fix to a wider problem, the better solution would be to implement a passive system that does a distance check periodically and then warps said pet to your position after you exceed a certain threshold of distance. This means that this workaround can remain in the game into the future, even long after they improve on AI, pathfinding and navmesh generation.

They had this issue in MO1 so pathing was abandoned in its place was ghost pets that passed through any object that obstructed their path.

They already do. You fill up your pet, park it move to a location, log out and in again. TADA, you have teleported your stuff. People do this for fast travel all the time.
Right now it is unintended and will be fixed.

Or Transport your stuff from town to town by leaving your pet in the town and walking on foot. :D

We had the same problem/bug/feature years ago in MO1. There had been a forum post by the devs or GMs about the illegal usage of the horse porting and transport bug, but I don't know if this had consequences for any players at that time.

Better solve the problem before persistent state!
