So I'm brand new other than a few videos I have watched. The game is still down loading in the back ground as I am typing this. I saw some build called the dominator mage build, and it looked very interesting. SO, I am looking for a kind of elemental mage mixed with like a beast master build with some healing for myself, my party (if I get that far), and my pets. I don't want to rely heavily on the pets, but I want them strong. Like I heard the there are monsters you can dominate? That sounded really cool. Having like my own Centaur. I also don't want to be lacking to heavily on my spell front though; nothing crazy like calling down a meteor storm kind of strong, but like oh crap my animals dead I'm still a formidable foe. I am open to suggestions and questions. Thanks for reading if you got this far :)

TLDR I am a noob looking to be a elemental mage/ beast master.

its all possible but you cant cast elementalism while mounted. Ecumenical will give you heals, hitscan-spells and earthquake. You can dominate Monsters, yes but the grind is unreal for a new player. You will be passively reading books for weeks just to get your skills to 70. But for build suggestions I'd say ecu 100, elementalism just enough to cast an AoE Fireball if dismounted, mental training 100,mental offense 100, vitalism (necessary for a mage) mounted magery, CC,ACC, Domination and whats left id put in daggers, blocking and a little into armor training. havent played in a while but something like that could work. It just needs a lot of time and A LOT of gold.

Like any build in this game, if you want the best of one aspect you’ll have to sacrifice in one other. There is no way to get it all.
For healing Ecumenical is the main magic school to get, so thats a must.

There are currently 2 main ways to get strong pets:
1) through Taming & Beast mastery.
2) through Necromancy & Ritualism.

Both have different advantages and disadvantages but the main difference is that Ritualism (risen) pets can be made from carcass at a ritual table, while normal tamed pets have to be found in the world, have to be tamed and then levelled to full. Once they die you have yo get a new one. Its a tedious business to get and level pets.
Currently risen pets are more popular in pvp (mainly because they are less tedious, and requires less skill points) but when pet armour comes out, Beast mastery will get a huge buff. Risen pets also turn you grey so you cant enter guarded towns. This can make life quite difficult unless you have a house or stronghold of your own.

Taming and Beast mastery is also a lot easier to access for new or solo players. Perhaps a bit grindy and tedious but definitely much cheaper. necromancy and especially Ritualism can be very hard and costly to purchase and level. However, not impossible.

I'm not going the taming route I'm trying to do domination. If that's possible and I noticed that elementism has healing to so might just not do ecumenical.

Tbh you don't need taming to own pets :) Just to tame them.
Yes, but you would need to buy them, which is quite expensive for new players...

Regarding Taming vs Dominate:
- Domniated pets are not tradeable.
- Dominate requires 200 primary skillpoints (100 points for Ecu spells, which is the magic school for "simple" magic & 100 points for dominate). Taming needs only 100 points for Taming. So as a rule of thumb all non-mage beastmasters should go for taming, and mages, that have Ecu spells anyways, should go for dominate.
- All Tameable pets are also Domniateable.
- Some pets are only Dominateable.
- Most "common" pets are Tameable such as Wolfes, Horses, Turtles, Bears,...
- Some pets are only Dominateable such as Hunter Lizzards (extreme strong DPS, but low life), Tagmatons (giant ants, strong defense), Crabs (also strong defense) & Spiders (generally useless combat pet?).

Dominating is fine just know that you cant trade dominated pets. So basically you have to physically get all your pets. You wont be able to buy them, or sell them, or get them from other players.

The healing spells in elementalism are absolutely trash. You need ecumenical for domination anyways, so you wont have much of a choice.

Elemental damage spells are very powerful so, if you can fit that into your build, i say go for it. However it does take 300 skill points to get the good spells so youll have to get creative with your selection of skills. I suggest to pick human for their ability to have more kill points than other races

I always thought an Everquest type druid would be great in Mortal. Either a high skill point requirement or pricey rare-ish mat to be able to teleport people around the map to Druid Rings. I always loved selling portals when I played back then. I think it'd be a great addition to Mortal if a magic like that was introduced. A short duration movement speed buff would be great too like Spirit of Wolf was... 🧙‍♀️🪄
But you totally can. Just kill them and then banish them…whala! Instant mandatory relocation. You get to keep the gear as payment. 😆
