Thread resurrection, but how do people feel about the viability of daggers right now and/or how to use them strategically in a fight? I'm a big Assassin/Thief fan, so the idea of a dagger build with light/leather armor is appealing to me. Since there is no dual wield (my dream), it seems like using a dagger with a shield would be ideal?
I had some success with a dagger and small shield. Even though it's a close in weapon with no handle hits, had some success using the shield bash to create distance, then go in for a dash/stab to the head at close range. And since there's no handle damage, you can get in close and go for slashes/stabs if you can get around someone, but if you're exchanging wild slashes in close you're also liable to catch a big hit from a bigger weapon and end up losing out.
Anything I'm missing? Also, backstabbing (with only daggers?) was a thing in MO1 right? How did that work and anyone know if they've talked about bringing that to MO2?
