if i build bows with crepite do i need the book crepite lore to increase the damage? while we're at it, who or what actually drops Crepite/Dense Crepite?

You need the book to learn the skill, but once you have even a little skill just killing the spiders and butchering they're bodies drops the crepite and levels up your crepite lore faster than the book does. The crepite lore does not increase your damage. Bowery crafting skill does that.

Dense crepite will drop from bigger spiders closer to the spider queen i believe. But from what i've learned dense crepite isnt all that worth it for the trouble. Regular crepite bow is just fine.
