Just wanting to add a committee channel for anyone looking to engage in some form of informal record keeping for allegations, dispute, and assembly functions (public interest hearings, evidence hearings etc).

voluntary admissions and participation with minimal oversight and maximally self managing.

No, we have public hearings and a system for allegations that are voted on. It could get taken out but I think it will likely stay due to ease of committee functioning.

wtf? why?

The only consequences are that if it is passed then a person would lose their ability to vote on things other than public motions. There's currently a vote on whether or not to remove vote power for people that break TOS and its favorable to pass.

So like some kind of UN toothless tiger where you pretty much just agree to ostracize people ?
anything actually enforceable would surely come under the jurisdiction of Discord and his staff based on evidence otherwise it's kind of creeping in to 'he said she said' subjective heresay can't really do anything or risk slander kind of stuff where a minority of loudest voices rule.
just my 2c worth from being driven insane by committees IRL 🤪

More like the opposite. Anyone can show up and say whatever they want and whatever consensus they make is just a consensus which can be heard.

Useful for discussion of just about anything with minimal punitive action. The only thing punishing would be having a public hearing contradict you but thats about it.

So far no rules against he said she said but readying some hearing process guidelines. It's just public affairs not a judiciary.

I suppose it could work in a sort of public Name-n-Shame type of way if done properly, but remember that those kinds of things can backfire. Once there was a game called MO that decided to punish murderers by making their tags red, and keeping a publicly visible murder count. Not only did it become a source of pride for some, it became a fun competition for them, resulting in, among other things, endless noob-killing for fast easy "points". In a world where some people adore the attention that trolling gets them, you might want to be careful with something that draws them attention, yet has no way to really punish them.

Ah but I have drafted a motion to keep them contained in their own circuit which has a petition and appellate function while still allowing public voting. Voting has begun. You guys seem very interested in the allegations but those are like the least intended function just as a way to clear names with evidence. It's mostly to arbitrate public interest so they can have hearings or draft polls etc. In any event all are welcome.

The court of un-popular opinion will now begin sessions.

Kind of reminds me of the Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy - It's not our fault that you haven't checked your local galactic office for demolition papers.
