i like playing with builds and was wondering why teh clade tree feels very boring. I would like to see every clade on the tree having a use in my build. An example, if i want to build an obese oghmir tank mage to cheese small scale pvp with, i would take the rock solid clade, however to get there i must pick up 3% dmg bonus. Making the clade a lot more expensive relative to the value i receive. And the cost does not matter because the rock solid clade is just too good.

I wish that there was a mechanic where you can pick a clade from a pool when traveling to the 3rd tier clade. One could also have multiple paths lead to a tier 3 clade. That way I can only pick fighter, mage, pve, pvp clades whatever fits my build.

Another Idea for the clade tree would be to be able to turn the clade tiers as if it were made out of 3 smaller wheels. That way your clade choices could feel more individual and "perfect". Currently picking clades is a run down of getting the most valuable actives / passives, stats and whatever you got on the way feels good as a bonus. Having the skill to use hammers is not very helpful as a spear user. Often it is not hard to pick the top 20 clades for a build. Please give us more clades to pick from even if they are not game breakingly impactful. Just so that the pool is bigger, along with previously described mechanics this could open a path to a lot of creative builds.

That way you can make your build feel "perfect"

Could just make them a pool rather than a tree format, if you need the change to be simple.

I have suggested many layout swaps to the human clades specifically to make them more like logical groupings and ensure you aren't forced to get a gift that is unrelated to the one after it.

For instance currently you're forced to:

1. Get the pilfering clade to access the mana regeneration in armor gift
2. Get +4 Psyche to access the +4 strength and dexterity gifts
3. Get +4 Intelligence to access +2 max dexterity gift
4. Get + size and damage bonus to access +2 max psyche and constitution gifts

There's a few more, but the problem here is pretty clear. A lot of the gift layouts seem like they had no thought behind them, and force players to get things they dont actually want, or that arent related to any logical group. Ideally the predecessor to a gift should be relevant to that gift, so it feels like you're specialising down a certain path.

Hopefully they change these around so they make sense soon.

bingo

the trees themselves are backwards. Hate WoW if you will but the talent trees there were a far better concept than the clade trees we have here. i'm not saying MO has to follow their lead, but theres no shame in taking the good parts and iterating on them.

if the gifts do not fit well in to the set tree structure they have, then either the gifts should change or the structure should change. trying to shoehorn gifts in where they dont make sense is just idiocy

There's still a fair bit of work to go into the Clade gifts as far as we've been lead to believe with the current roadmap and iterations they're going through. That said, good feedback and here's hoping they can tighten up the system. The circular design they've followed isn't bad per se, but should at least be tweaked to ensure it's paths are logical, e.g. clearly defined magic paths, crafting paths, melee paths etc.
