Can environmental audio sources be spatial?

This tweak (probably more than that) could really add a huge level of immersion to the game. We already spend a massive amount of time in the wild, gathering and traveling it would be much more appealing if the sounds were sourced in the areas (every forest could sound different, canyon, all with biome specific sound sources.

Currently the environment sounds are static to a character, were all playing our own audio and when i turn my head the sounds turn with me, "apparently that birdsong is riding my left shoulder". I know if would be a @*&%^^ placing the sound nodes, and idk if that would add much computational runtime but it would be a big impact to the feel of the game.
