This would hamper the current running and swinging combat meta. Accurately timing a counter riposte would hold more value and help in 1vX situations where you are being aggressively ganked. A riposte would increase damage 25% allowing posted trading counters, until a powerful blow is struck. Running and swinging figure 8's would still be a viable tactic.
This was the way riposte counters worked for many years in MO1 and although the community seemed to favor removing the riposte damage increase it might be worth taking another look during combat Alpha.
