what wood should you use when making a bow?

Does it matter which wood I use to make a bow? Can I do more damage with better wood?

basic rule was ( and probably still is ) lightest wood do more damage but lower dura ( so sponge wood for damage
You probably should mention that you're talking about a composite bow, and that only one slot is wood, and the second one usually an animal material e.g. crepite.

Crepite (or other animal materials) have high damage/range, and also high str requirement. Woods usually have low damage & low str requirement.
By mixing them you combine the good damage values of the animal material with the low str of the wood.

As a rule of thumb:
Selfbows are worse than composite bows.
Decurve bows are worse than recurve bows.
