Add Combat timer.

Current problem is guardzone PvP. People hide in GZ and stay in range enough to run back to it for a safety net.

If you are going to PvP you should have to commit. It doesn't make sense for guards to know who was the aggressor and who is the criminal. All they see is two gangs brawling and they need to stop all the fighting.

Add a simple timer of 30 seconds or even a minute from when ever you do damage to a player for any reasons that make you a combatant but not a criminal. If a guard sees you as a combatant but not a criminal then you dont lose rep and the timer doesn't reset when you are hit by them. Also if you die as a combatant then your loot is still blue and the guards will attack people who try to loot it.

Would solve a lot of abuse of the guard zone. And if you are a new player running to GZ then you can still save you loot by dying to guards. and coming back later.

I feel like the the deeper issue here is trying to PvP outside of a town. Towns are hubs of safety, where players less comfortable with open PvP will hover. If you want satisfying engagements, find people out in the world, or utilize the Tindrem Arena. Flip the script, if you crave conflict, it makes complete sense the outskirts of a town would be a poor choice - you will become known by the town, can be escaped from, and eventually the town would send it's official guard to deal with you.

That being said, I agree with the logic that guards wouldn't know right away - and some form of "combatant timer" might be okay. It would need to be a lot more intricate that you have suggested, though, or at least: repeated offenders should lose their protection of "combatant" and guards would know the problematic people.

Something like, as an example idea, if you are an Aggressive Combatant (you hit first):
  • You get a debuff marked "Suspect" at 0 value, and a Notoriety debuff at 1.
    • If you take damage, or deal damage, "Suspect" ticks upward by 5.
    • If you reach 30 in Suspect, you go grey.
      • So in effect, you would need to take or do damage 6 times to go grey.
  • If you stop combat for 30 seconds, Suspect goes away.
    • -
  • Notoriety would last 10 minutes before going away, per level.
    • Hitting another player who is innocent will add more Notoriety, and each stack takes 10 minutes to fade away.
      • Each new player who is innocent that gets hit, adds 1 Notoriety.
      • If you attack the same player after 30 seconds of no combat, adds 1 Notoriety.
      • If you kill a player, you go instant grey and gain 5 Notoriety.
    • -
  • Notoriety marks you as a potential criminal, getting worse per level.
    • 1-4: If you attack an innocent, you gain more "Suspect" level per hit.
      • 1: 6 Per Hit
      • 2: 8 per hit
      • 3: 10 per hit
      • 4: 12 per hit
    • 5-9: You go instant grey when attacking an innocent.
    • 10+: You are KOS by guards.

  • This would all work in conjunction with the Rep System and the Murder Count System

Agreed. I liked how in DMM if you attacked someone you wouldn't be able to enter a safe zone for 30 minutes

The world is too massive to reliably find pvp away from towns, plus the only fighting out there is mounted. :(
Hot spots exist, prowl bandit and risar camps, hang out near dungeons or juicy spawns. If people can gather a group of friends who want PvP and hang out on Fab Bridge for 3~+ hours, why not just.. move the party?

Also - Tindrem Arena. There is frustration because players run away to town, this is due to it being non-consensual. I know, half the kick for PKers is the thrill of that part, but, if town = mad, because players don't play along, why not cut your losses and move into more consensual options? You could start gambling over wins, to incite something kindred.

You could go to war with a guild. You could split your own guilds into two halves for the fun of it and battle each other. You could try to host PvP events. So on and so forth. There are other options. If your "best/favorite" pick routinely doesnt work out, why continue suffering? Control what you are able to. Your choices. :)

Fab bridge is guard fighting. I live at risar camp, no PvP most days. I dont even live in towns I havent set foot in fab in weeks yet I fight at their guardzone a lot. Tind arean is garbage and a meme no one actually fights there the performance is horrible. You only really find "PvP Hotspots" at tourist locations like when a new dungeon comes out, those only last for a short while after the patch. Sewers already drying up for PvP outside of dunking on noobs.

Nothing you said people have not and already done. If you have to split your guild to get PvP because people wont leave GZ then there is something wrong with the game.

Okay, I can see some of your points. I was spitballing.

I don't understand something, though. In two of your feedback posts now, I have replied directly with information or questions, and you have ignored it. But now you comment on something that isn't actually directly about your suggestion, or even to you.

Why?
