How Should Mounted Combat Look in MO2?

This is a skill-based game, not a Dungeons & Dragons dice game.

I suppose it could work in a sort of public Name-n-Shame type of way if done properly, but remember that those kinds of things can backfire. Once there was a game called MO that decided to punish murderers by making their tags red, and keeping a publicly visible murder count. Not only did it...

It's just my opinion, but I'd say SV did a good job identifying problems that needed to be solved, but I don't know if this is the best solution to them. This system will not only punish anyone out in the wild that has to so much as answer the door, or deal with a screaming kid, or even go to...

Why don't we all just play MO1 until M02 comes out?

For Badmans attempt to bring us back on topic, 5 points to Gryffindor.

Did I miss an update to this? I see this thread fading into the background, (last post 11/26) and this is kind of a big deal.

Why don't we all just play MO1 until M02 comes out?

There are good and bad players in every game; it doesn't distract from the fact that it was the idea of the *game* that made them show up, and it was the *players* they met that made everybody leave until the game died. Ask anyone who left, and it wasn't the game that made them say, "fuck this"...

Why don't we all just play MO1 until M02 comes out?

Rules/regulations aren't the way to go, even I, who despised what I saw, think that. Creating the proper environment is the way to go. Haven is a good example. No one's advocating turning the game carebear; it's about giving new people a chance to learn the game, and killing them with subtle...

Survival and immersion mostly. Tunnel vision is a handicap in combat, because in this game, what don't see coming *is* trying to kill you. Someone can come up and be winding up a headshot standing right next to you, and you haven't the faintest idea anyone is even there. Not very realistic to...

Personally I prefer 1st person, but it would be nice to not have MO2 be as empty, and dead as MO1. I'd love some better peripheral vision tho. Seeing my own back isn't my cup o' tea.

Give it up Necro, it's not the number one core feature, first person on MO release simply referred to not being an isometric game dude. And that was a decade ago, bro-him.

TBH I want peripheral vision, not behind the back vision. Let's say I'm not married to the idea of 3rd person, and came to you and asked you, what would *you* do to give something resembling the 180-190 degree peripheral vision most people have, and let's assume directional audio was handling...

    Mouse not moving correctly.

I don't mean to sound like a hater, but it sounds like some MO1 vets are worried they're not gonna be able to win w/o using the exploits they used in MO1 to do phycially impossible moves to win. Turn caps stop mouse dragging, and thank god for that. One more exploit gone. Ping normalization...

Bernfred, I don't know if that was sophistry, or you just misunderstood me. With the Steam release I was referring to the people that griefed the new players until practically all of them logged and never came back, keeping "their" server to themselves. Please skip the usual hardcore/niche...

Why don't we all just play MO1 until M02 comes out?

Gonna be the same in MO2 if some "core" things don't change. And I don't mean just 3rd person view and the usual stuff that was forumquested to death during MO1, I also mean the toxic, "It's MY game, go away" mentality that permeated the game and culminated with that disasterous Steam release...

I listed them, none hold up: 1.) doesn't ruin immersion, b/c yer not forced to use it 2.)Doesn't change anything core or not, it's an addition, not a replacement 3.) don't even remember the third tbh, and getting tired of this thread I understand, I just don't agree.

forcing first person *deprives* a clear awareness advantage, not gives. If MO2 wasn't designed to attract new players, they would have just upgraded MO1, it's a new version of the same engine, and some new graphics. Almost every single person I have talked to, to get them to come play this...

What is this reason why you don't have 360? In 1vX you don't have anyone to watch your back. It's not immersion, since anyone that wants to continue to play 1st person can. (I will) It just let's more people enjoy this new, not MO1 game. And I seriously doubt it's "most of the community". Most...
