Here's a suggestion to satisfy the most blood thirsty inhabitants;

For a 24hr period all criminal actions are removed. There are no town guards. Anyone can kill anyone, anywhere.

An alt server could be activated that operates under normal rules. Main server issues a warning before logging in.

Record stats and publish them afterwards.
Maybe have a running count of kills and/or top killers.

To be honest I just want to put the idea to bed. I don't think it'll actually be a popular idea but until it's put into practice the same players will keep arguing for it to be applied permanently.
My prediction would be that people would be queuing to get into the alt server because they don't want to join the bloodbath.
