Pet stays in the game after the logout?

This is the third time after logging into the game - I get a message that the pet is killed. I think the pet stays in the game after leaving, if so, this is a very strange mechanic.

Stable your pets. It is the one sure way to make sure they dont stay in the world when you logout.
