New player impression of the community

I'm new to this community (played MO1 on and off, was excited by the potential, disppointed by the reality), skeptical of MO2 because of that, jumped in the stress test and impressed by what I saw. I think this narrative represents a lot of the general gaming community who are being exposed to the game right now.

Stepping in here to learn more about the game, I think you ya'll need to chill out. I understand you're concerned about where the game will end up and don't want to SV to mess stuff up, but when a new person comes in here tentatively interested in the game, seeing you all tearing each other apart and freaking out has as much likelihood of turning someone off of wanting to be a part as a negative review at Early Access (in fact it's already a kind of negative review). People are arriving here excited by what they saw and wanting to learn more. Hitting a wall of negatively and angst is likely to turn them away pretty quickly.

All I'm saying is keep in mind this is not just you guys debating with each other, you are communicating to new people whether or not they should spend their time and energy here. Seeing people being accused of being bots/burner accounts of the CEO because they project hope about the game being something they'll enjoy sends a pretty clear message to those tentatively interested.

I hope there's a way to projecting hope and welcoming to new people without being a "Yes man" that doesn't clearly communicate to SV ways to improve.

Thanks and hope this is helpful!

I get it. It's not inspiring to see people critiquing SV's decisions and their progress.

We all want MO2 to succeed. MO1 moved in a direction that many players didn't like, leaving a lot of people frustrated. There were many promises over the years, few were kept, and a lot of folks felt like their feedback went unheard. I think it's important to remind people to temper their expectations and to look at the game with a critical eye. This is the stage of development when SV can use critical feedback the most - they still have time to fix these things, and time to push back release dates and make sure that this game is actually good when it's launched. Pretending like everything is perfect when it can be improved helps nobody.

Thank you Darthus. This really really needed to be said.
And communicating via Darth Vader clips is definitely cool.
