One big change that came from the new armor weight impact on stamina regen was that (as far as I can tell) the stamina regen impact based on str requirement of a weapon was removed

Example:
Before the patch, it took about 14 seconds to regen a 0-100% stam bar on a 89 str 359 stam toon equipping a 2H xguard steel sword, but took around 24 seconds to regen the full stam bar when equipping a greatblade steel sword.

After the armor weight patch, the 0-100% stam regen is identical for every sword type when made out of steel (16ish seconds in 10ish kg armor weight on same toon)

I haven’t done enough testing to find if there is a “new threshold” on weapon str requirement which causes impact on stam regen, but I am under the impression it doesn’t exist at all any more

So… what is the point in having the different styles of 2H swords now? They all have 0 impact on stam regen, they all have the same stam drain on weapon swing and blocking, at least to the degree where I can’t do 1 more swing or block from the lightest to heaviest sword type of identical material. The only reason to choose a stat-wise weaker style of sword atm is because it costs less material to craft, which I think is poor design

Please redesign the swords weaker than GB - my biggest upset is how weak the katana is. There is absolutely NO reason to choose katana over a GB at the moment. Even a tungsteel katana is massively weaker than a steel GB, and they have no difference in swing speed, stam drain, or stam regen. It was not like this in MO1

Please can others add their thoughts- if anyone has done any other testing, specifically with swords

Weapon weight has never affected stamina regeneration, if it did at some point that was a bug.

The benefits of using lighter weapons are faster charge time, less stamina drain when charging, and lower strength requirements.

That said, currently the heavy greatblade outclasses every other sword damage wise apart from the risar blade, and the cons for using it in terms of speed and stamina are not enough to use anything else, which is why its the most used sword in the game.

I hope this changes soon, and there are reasons and incentives for using the other sword blades that are actually appealing.

To circle back though, the differences in blades are in regards to material cost, speed and stamina drain, not stamina regeneration.
