Magic Damage In PvE

I know the 'real' PvE magic schools and etc aren't in game yet, and that 'magic is just a support class' argument, etc. But since you can't be both a mage and a fighter at the same time I think that magic damage should be increased in PvE. At 100 magic skills, yes 100 all, 110 int, all in magic character - it takes two fulminates to kill a zombie (outside of Haven), about four to kill a wolf, and something like 8 to kill a bear. Your only option at all is to ride around to charge a spell, then turn back and attack, repeat for like 6 minutes. And these are not like 'hard' creatures. This wouldn't be that bad if I were say a level 40 mage. But really if it's this bad at 100 max skill how bad is it going to be when everyone is at 40? Being 100 in all magic skills should make you feel powerful, it should be a reward for all your effort spent, but even as a grandmaster wizard you still can hardly kill a wolf, it's really silly in my opinion. On top of that you're sacrificing your HP, and carry weight for magic. The usual arguments are 'well find someone who isn't a mage to play with'. Anyways, I think that for all the skill points and sacrifices a mage character has to make they should at least do more damage in PvE at 100 MAX skills. Like I said it's not that bad at 100, but at 40 and such... I mean 100 max skills won't be easy to obtain. I'm sure the usual bunch who are against any changes will disagree, but hopefully, developers take note. Thanks, right now magics main use is healing and griefing players with culminate (which should also be addressed as it's a risk-free, insanely cheap way to grief players, but that's for another thread)

You need spam dmg. It should be comparable to the cost of farming with a bow, but you should def not have bow range, obv

I feel like with a bow you can at least use a melee weapon, have decent hp, and have good carry weight. The problem is with mage you're sacrificing being able to use a melee weapon, being able to have a good carry weight, and being able to have a lot of hp (or dex). Magic is basically a worse version of archery at this point besides healing

Ecumenical is like everyday spells though like cantrips. Also the flip side is mages with just ecumenical are really cheap to play anyways so don't need much money. Also you dismiss off hand that you need a group but what it comes down to is there's a spectrum for different playstyles, if you want to solo mobs but not be good at group dungeons like the risar dungeon go MA, mage is good at group dungeons but bad at solo farm, and foot fighter is in-between. I get everyone wants what they play to be good at everything but that's simply how this game is and you're choosing this. This is a group oriented game and you're choosing the most group oriented "class" without anything to supplement it that's good for solo on purposes.

I was wondering how long it would take for a 'Just join a group dude' post lol. Again why not just play an archer or a foot fighter who is even better in a group. Every argument against mages being buffed in PvE boils down to 'Wait until they add an entirely new magic school that will actually be good in PvE' or 'Join a group of melee characters who are actually balanced and don't suck in PvE and let them do all the fighting while you sit back and pew pew'. It's like you acknowledge it's an issue yet don't think it should be fixed

I don't think it's an issue. I think it's intended that way and you are trying to change the game to make it so you get all the perks and no drawbacks. There's a whole other side of the coin of people thinking mages are not balanced because the cost is so low to run them. Low cost low solo money.

I didn't say no changes ever but you said it's an issue and I don't agree. It's a purposed change to how they have the system. From there we can talk out positives and negatives about the change. I agree it would make mage feel better to play but I am not necessarily convinced it would be a good idea because of the effect on balance and design. They intend for mages to be rare as well and this is part of how they do that.
