Immersive fast travel options without ruining the experience.

I want to hear your thoughts on this.
  • Fast travel teleport scrolls
    • You can buy them from merchants or other skilled mages who can craft them which helps the player-driven economy
    • They should come in different tiers, quality, supply, etc to determine the value of these scrolls
    • Immersive and lore-friendly because teleport scrolls are rare items that are created by skilled mages, and also traded by merchants
  • Carriage taxi services
    • Pay a small fee to travel from town to town
    • A first-person carriage ride where you see your character sit down and travel, no loading screen from A to B
    • You can choose to AFK or enjoy the first-person travel experience, but if you AFK there's always a chance you could get ambushed by bandits or get attacked by other players
  • Ancient teleport shrines?
    • There should be a quest to unlock them or something
    • Only accessible when explored
    • Every region has secret hidden temples or waypoints that connect to other ones that allow fast travel, this gives an immersive exploration as well as lore-friendly content
    • No loading screens, you could design the transition by making players enter a magic portal and teleport them from point A to B (E.g. Similar to split gate portals)

We are talking about moving with full inventory, right?

I guess the carriage system could theoretically work, as a way to afk-travel. It shouldnt be faster than a horse though

A carriage taxi service should have the option to carry your inventory. The carriage speed should depend on a number of factors e.g. economy, horse quality, VIP service, distance traveled, etc. it's up to the MO2 team to be creative and decide, I just want to know if it's a good idea or feasible to implement.

There should be different carriage service tiers, from basic to VIP. To balance the system, people who train on horses, mounts, speed, or stamina/sprinting, should be able to travel faster than carriages at maximum levels. Carriages should be for the average person maybe, all depends on how you want to design the game theory.

If that's real, that's awesome. I hope they can expand on that, someone should be able to run a business around it and add things like guard protection hired by real players to take on as quests or something.

They only need a AFK ghost travel system. Something that takes the same amount of time to ghost from one place to another but you dont have to spend you time stuck to a chair dodging pebbles as you auto walk to a different town.

Don't think this would be a good addition personally. Henrik has talked about moving goods with wagons and ships eventually, but part of the magic and immersion of this game is it's huge beautiful world and traversing in it. Makes me feel like I'm in an adventure movie montaging across the landscape. Plus, there are so many things to find between point A and point B, and so many ways to die.

the only thing that stops h24 pvp or sieges is that.. so no ty. people should work on everything. no afk stuff

What the difference between semi afking from place to place as a ghost and just teleporting after afking for 30 mins. It just makes the game so much better. MO2 is a hobby that requires a shit load of time, lowering the time you need to do mundain task that offer no balance should be a goal.

It is my understanding that the principle of the game is that everything is done by player.

which also has the value to make player add content without the dev having to spend time on it.

Such basic service, done by player, being a a revenue for them.

I heard that during the beta there was a global bank organized by player that:
-Allowed you to deposit gold somewhere.
-To retrieve 80% of this gold anywhere.
-To make it work they had to transport securely gold between the city. Thus forming caravan that could be raided.


So for a taxi service the only thing i think is needed is a "follow" command. The client would get on the taxi'horse that follow the taxi player (its master). Or the command for the client or his own horse to automatically follow a designated person.

Obviously the taxi would be responsible for the client security and the client can afk. Or service refund... transport assurance, anything that the players can organize.

Edit: You don't need a carriage, just being on a horse, and the inventory of the horse bags should be enough, if you want more then have more horse.
Realistically, carriage is always slower than a horse with bag. In this PvP world i would advice against it unless you have a really strong escort because slower mean easier target from bandit player.

I don't think there will ever be the standard type of fast travel.

We may see wagons and such that players can haul other players in though.

That would give some the ability to be afk while others are driving.

But there would still be risks of getting attacked.

The only thing i'd like to see in terms of tp is something that with a cost can let u bypass ghostmode travelling. HARD NO on ítems tp, this goes against the fundamental idea of the game which is to populate it.

I imagine that spiritists could open portals to certain towns with a decent cost and skill/item requirements for the people (who have the portal skills) can travel.

Ítems teleporting shouldn't exist at all tho.
