Can you extract rock oil from anything?

I like to be self sufficient and craft my own supplies but both rock oil and ichor are things I always end up needing to buy from the vendor.

I know ichor can be extracted from cinnabar (if there is an easier source of extraction let me know) but I am curious to know if I can somehow craft my own rock oil.

Someone told me its possible with sabura powder and purified water but I am not sure about the amounts or the appliance to use... I haven't gotten that to work.

If anyone knows how I can make rock oil please let me know.
