I don't know if the live streams have been happening and they just haven't been summarized or if there is radio silence. I feel like SV bit off a lot w/ elementalism AND saying they are gonna fix pet pathing in houses.
I personally have been waiting for a 'new player' patch to adjust...
Extraction timers.
Skill gain/book reading times.
Clade gain.
Can we get one of those in the meantime? It might be THE VISION, but I can assure you, those are dog shit parts the game that nobody likes LOL. Or maybe some of the people do, but the majority of people are not gonna be excited about it coming in.
For instance, let's think of a guy in haven who wants to craft a 2h sword. You have to either wait a very long time and read books, or go into crafting pole swords which requires, even if you do it optimally, a lot of trips to the GY and back + getting cotton or pigleather for the wrap. We're talking multiple crafts of 200-300 units each PER level tick. Up to what is it... like 50 to open up great blades?
Contrast this to what it would take to level flakestone mastery to 100, or something like... look at the gigantic PIG SPAWN that you can just camp and butcher until you are max. There is even a table there (iirc?) so you can walk it to the table and max that, too.
With flake, sure you have to mine hard, but you see the gains. You hit 3 nodes, end up with about a stack, and you watch the stuff rise each time... multiple points. Or blood ore, whatever. Crusher lore itself though is pretty tedious.
For instance! As I posted in another thread, what I would consider my MAIN CHAR, who I brought to Myrland day 1 and had to sit out til they came up with instances, is c16 (mainly cuz I'm always respeccing,) and has tons of lores, but again she's been respecced much. Her total play-time since about 2 weeks before launch? About 550 hours. That's A LOT of time, but in an MMO over a year?
Contrast that with the 3rd acct I bought, which I still dunno why I did it, hah... momentary insanity. I actually decided to go for c12~ in haven on a now-deleted character. Got my crafting up and everything. Same thing with Emdash, my crafter, I didn't clade in haven, but I did the whole maxing crafting thing. Her play time is WAY LONGER even though I've done much less game play. MUCH less. And my 3rd acct who is mostly a true alt/house holder, who was in haven to clade and craft has almost 200 hours of play time. THAT'S A BIT CRAZY, especially considering a new player doesn't know how to do things at a high level.
LEMME TELLYA another story. I met this guy who was a nub... he's still in game, he throws up pickables on broker for too-high prices. H something? Anyway, I invited him to Eternal and he accepted on accident I guess, haha. He was bitchy like Y U SEND BLIND INV. I was like nah I was trying to invite you cuz I am intrigued by what you are doing and want to help you. He ended up leaving after awhile, but he was like "I'm chopping wood to level bow crafting." I was like... dood u shud try bone tissue. And he's like wat why... and then later, he says... hey it really is a lot easier to use bone tissue. It's like... yeah. Complete garbage grind, using bone tissue to spam shit. Not at all intuitive. TRASH TRASH TRASH.
SV, I tellya. Patch ya game with those 3 things, increase zombie gain outside of haven like it was before, increase clade of other monsters outside of haven, too. Increase clade a little for parcels. Fix skill gain/books to be more balanced (there is a huge discrepancy between some skills and others for no real reason) and increase the gains towards skill/cut book time by legit 2/3 or something more, and CUT EXTRACTION TIMERS about the same and PEOPLE WILL WANT TO PLAY YOUR GAME.
- inhales - PEOPLE WILL WANT TO PLAY YOUR GAME. Then get back to working on Ele and the impossible promise of pet pathing in houses hueee.
That's my shitpost of the day. DO IT.
