Assassin Contracts

I'd like to suggest an alternative to bounty hunting contracts in the form of Assassin Contracts. These would be based on broker sales. Hopefully with the recent broker update it is now easy for the devs to query the players selling the most items of value in each city.

My suggestion is to provide an opportunity for player killers to kill in town with the focus being on the most wealthy (or at least most active in the market). This will allow for players to profit off of unaware merchants, as well as for wise merchants to hire or persuade others to keep watch over them. There will be kinks to work out but I believe this to be a fun system and more rewarding than a pickpocketting mechanic that I think people are looking forward to in thievery. Maybe the two can be merged in some way.

There may be an opportunity to even warn potential merchants when they are being watched as a target. This could be either when someone has a current contract for them or just that they are within the top threshold of being targeted. Maybe both.

One concern I can see others raising is that ppl will just use alts to sell and while probably true, they will still need to access the market directly, at which point an assassin can strike. Maybe you get the goods they were trying to sell or even the gold they have collected from previous sales.

Assassin contracts will have been contracted by the elite underground and guards will look the other way from these transgressions (you won't go crim). Or maybe by the time this becomes a thing the crim system has a rework and guards can be bought out for a time. Who knows.

Hopefully someone up there reads this and explores this idea further :)

Let me know if you love or hate it.

If I remember correctly, there were apparently plans to introduce assassination as the murderers' counter to bounty hunting. Basically contracts to kill blues. But haven't heard a word about it for a while now.

I do like your suggestion.
