The majority of builds use mana to some degree but if you wear heavier armor the only reliable way to restore mana is taking off your armor to rest and then putting it back on. This is tedious and discourages hybrid builds.
I suggest that a new skill gets added to the basic spell book requiring 0 skill to use. This skill is a copy of the default resting skill but lets you rest without regeneration penalties but also without defence. If needed for balance reasons the defence penalty can last 2-3 seconds after the resting ends to simulate putting your armor back on. While you rest with this skill there's a blue glow surrounding you.
This is easy to implement and would be a positive addition for everyone.
It could be called anything like Zen Resting, Weightless Mind, Weightless Resting...etc.
I made a quick example in ecumenical although it might fit better in an other category like spiritism.
