Greetings Mortals,
Last Thursday on October 13th at 7 PM UTC Henrik hosted his regular weekly stream over on Twitch.
Henrik was planning to host a community adventure last week however unfortunately he was rather unwell. Nonetheless he still stayed to give some exciting news and a lengthy QnA for the community along with the usual weekly giveaway.
The stream has been archived on our YouTube channel, with some handy chapters and timestamps in the description!
Success from last week’s battle stress test
We have some great news regarding progress for our server code. We want to thank everyone who came to last week’s stress test as it enabled us to identify and lock down a major bottleneck affecting how information is sent across the server. This issue is what caused the long delays in group fights with hundreds of people in the same area.
We have a fix ready to apply in the patch hopefully this week, which we believe will be successful in reducing or possibly eliminating this kind of lag in scenarios with many players.
If it goes well, it means we should be able to increase the distance the server gives you information about characters and AI in the following patch, such as names, guild names and equipment like armor.
We are very excited to test these new upgrades, and hopefully we will see the benefits during this week’s stream event.
Second stress test event
We will be inviting everyone to join Henrik outside Meduli again this week, to verify the changes we made have fixed the bottleneck which causes delays on the server when hundreds of players are around.
We had over 530 players turn up last time which was fantastic to see. If you came before, we would very much love to see you again this week.
This event will be happening during Henrik’s normal stream time at 7:00 PM UTC October 20th.
The next patch
We are planning on releasing Patch 1.0.7 this week, and the patch is currently in the QA stage where we are checking it for stability.
This patch includes many bug fixes in the back end, as our coders have been cleaning up and optimizing a lot of the codebase to be more efficient. These are the kinds of fixes you might not be able to see directly as a specific bug fix or added content, but that are very important and the team is always working on them.
In terms of content, we have some small surprises for you in this patch which you will see in the notes.
Road map update and preview
We should finally have the roadmap showing the content additions coming in the near future soon. It has been delayed slightly as we confirm some potential workflow changes related to the possibility of having more members on our team soon.
When it is ready, we may reveal it during one of Henrik’s streams so he can walk everyone through the roadmap with some more details.
As a reminder, this roadmap will not have specific dates. Instead it will show the order in which you can expect new content to arrive. We are very excited to finally get to some of the more juicy items on this new roadmap, and we know many of you will be happy with what’s on it.
Special weapon moves
One major element of combat that is coming in the future, is the addition of special attacks for each weapon type.
These new attack types will give each weapon group a unique feeling option for mixing up the combat and providing various benefits.
We are still in the process of finalizing the exact design for these, but when they are finished Henrik will talk about them in an upcoming stream.
