Greetings Mortals,
On Thursday, August 18th at 7 PM UTC Henrik hosted his regular weekly stream over on Twitch.
This week during the stream Henrik answered lots of questions in his usual Q&A, gave away a free copy of Mortal Online 2 in the weekly giveaway, and hopped in game to spend some time with the community.
The stream has been archived on our YouTube channel, with some handy chapters and timestamps in the description!
Below are some of the key items Henrik touched on during the stream:
New Points of Interest
The next few patches will add over 90 new Points of Interest to Myrland, which includes some Necromancy themed ones. There will be a mixed variety of sizes and loot available, The goal is to help tackle some feedback we have received and make the world feel more alive.
We have thousands of creatures dotted across the land, but we wanted to fill some of these open spaces to make it more worthy to explore. This is also an effort to allow more solo or small group gameplay, as we want to make sure that newer players, or players who just want to play by themselves always have something to do.
During the stream Henrik showed some sneak peaks of some of the new points of interest that you will be able to discover around the map in the next update.
When will the subscription activate?
As we have stated in the past, we want to reach certain milestones before we activate the game subscription.
Some of these milestones are:
- Territory Control and Sieging Mechanics
- The transition to Unreal Engine 5
- A better new player experience from Haven to Myrland, giving players more options and opportunities to understand the game and grow.
- Polish and bug fixes for our most game breaking and experience ruining issues
Until then, the subscription will remain paused and players are free to play the game without needing a subscription in the meantime.
Siege mechanics
We have been finalizing some design and art assets for the upcoming siege system, and we hope to be able to show you more in either the next stream or on a future stream very soon.
We understand how excited many of our players are for this and Territory Control, and we can’t wait to see what the players do with these new systems.
We will touch on this again in the near future.
Magic schools & Rarity
We will have more and more schools as time goes on, and part of the design is to have some schools harder to obtain than others.
We have heard the feedback regarding the rarity of Necromantic Rituals, and we will be making some adjustments and changes to this in the next patch.
For general Necromancy, there are alternatives for smaller groups or solo players to be able to acquire the school and the spell scrolls for it without entering the new dungeon. We do want to keep some avenues of group play to make the harder content rewarding, however we want there to always be options for smaller groups as well.
Elementalism is likely the next magic school that we will see, as it is closely tied to the weather system, and has some functions that will help future schools such as the ability to free cast spells onto areas instead of purely targets, which we will use to improve certain Necromancer Spells in the future.
Mentalism is another future school, and one of its spells involves short range teleports to help with movement and escaping. This will be better for Dex Mages vs Fat mages as it will allow you to teleport faster and or farther.
Krampus will return to Nave
Krampus from Mortal Online I will return to Nave in Mortal Online II.
Taken from the lore article on our website:
“Amongst the most important days of celebration are the Imperial Gladiator festival that lasts for about 30 days, and the Raffle of Caerus which is a yearly event in the honour of the god of fortune. In the latter festival the name of a member of the Nobilitas are drawn at random from an urn, resulting in open and legalised plunder for anyone of the selected person’s house and belongings. The household is then driven away and banished while the participants of the celebration cheer. This festival is meant to show the god of fortune’s inherent fickleness, but as with everything in Tindrem political motives play a major part since it appears to be possible to bribe your way out of the urn using the right connections.”
Assassination Skills
There will be a set of assassin related skills in the future, one of which will be the application of poisons, which will have different effectiveness based on the weapon type and materials used.
We will share more about this when we get closer to seeing it in game.
Carpentry
We plan to have a Carpentry skill in the future which will allow you to craft furniture for your house.
Housing upkeep and compensation
We are working on preventing any more issues related to Housing Upkeep and the disappearance of houses and strongholds.
We are also going to be making some changes to eliminate some of the confusion around how the upkeep system works, so players are more informed.
If in the case you have been affected by such a bug, the Game Masters have the tools to investigate your issue, check our logs, and to revert in some cases. We have built and are constantly working on new tools to support this better, and we have also improved our log system to give the GMs more clarity for locating information faster.
In the case that you lost your home due to simply not paying the upkeep, the GMs cannot assist with that.
