Remove all attacks from tamed animals, make taming a secoundary.
Increase magic damage against NPCs excluding player owned pets such as mounts.

With the world beeing so huge its just really bad that taming is a primary, combat pets are ridicolous and should stay in WoW.

Taming will be irrelevant to beastmaster builds the moment pet trading is allowed as all players except alts, carebears, and utter fools will drop it. Animal care (faster leveling for pets) will suffer the same fate.

The following primaries will remain relevant to combat mains:
Creature Control
Advance Creature Control
Beast Mastery
Beast Influence
Herding

In addition, Domination will remain relevant as a replacement for taming for combat mains that want to tame (or in this case dominate) their own pets, as dominated pets will never be tradable and feature more powerful creatures.

Those 500-600 primary points do not exist for very pretty ponies. They are for the beastmaster role which is dependent upon powerful aggressive pets.

Taming should not be a secondary. It's a very useful skill that should not come for free. A skill for gathering/creating a powerful tradeable item that requires separate skills (as listed above) to control. It should be a primary, under professions. Creature control is to taming as swords is to weaponsmithing. It is the only logical classification for this skill.

Soooo..... basically what you are saying is that SV should give us a second character to do all of this extra stuff with. 😋

Game is supposed to be playable with one account.
World is too big for horses not beeing easily available for every single character, they sadly wont decrease world size so they atleast need to give everyone the ability to get a horse with only a minimum amount of annoyance

I don't have a dog in this fight.

but you can already tame with taming just unlocked and use a crafting lore to max horse lores.

So you'll have to dedicated either 100 crafting points or 100 action points.

You have been able to tame with no points in taming? I had to have around 30 to get low level ones. Which will be more so if they require them to be level 25 to ride like before. In MO1 I had to have 30 for donkeys, as well.

Even with max horse lores?

In MO2 yes. In MO1, I can't remember. I had taming on a couple of fighters who probably did not, but I had a fighter/butcher who did at one point but I can't remember how much taming he had.

I was going off memory from MO 1 so could be wrong.

I think steppe and bull horses were significantly harder to tame

Taming as a primary but let level 1-25 steps and donkeys be tamed with with 10 skill. That way miners and people trying to get from A to B don't have to invest much.

I remember getting donks and mongrels because of that, so maybe it will be that way again soon in MO2, and if they continue to let us ride levels lower than 25 it might be fine.

As it currently stands, yeah taming is a skill for alts. This broken pay-to-win status of taming was a large driver in my decision to get an alt account. But moving it to professions is fine. Not everyone needs taming. Every archer needs a bow. Every fighter needs a weapon. Everyone needs armor. The need of these things doesn't mean all their associated crafts are secondaries. It means they are classified as professions and made tradable.

This ultimately seems the best route to take taming for me. Take taming and animal care, add 2-4 more non-combat primaries and put it under professions. Every tamed creature is intended to be tradable. If the OP wants a horse, he should go to the broker and buy one just like a weapon or armor. Or join a guild that can hook him up. Or become a tamer.

If it's made a secondary, that's even more of a "screw you" to people like me that want to be tamers than SV forcing us to purchase alts to be viable on our combat mains. Nobody is going to buy pets from us if everyone can tame their own pets for free. And as much as some people treat profession primaries as free in the topic I made on this subject, they absolutely aren't.

I agree, taming should be no points. Mounts are essentially required and this is roughly 100 points (almost 10%) of your available action points just to have a horse. Even when you can buy horses it will be 50 points for creature control to max level the horses. Things that are NECESSARY to play the game should not require points.

The other thing that they could do is add taming as a profession skill instead of an action skill.

Don't think so. Once trade deeds become available, not everyone would even want to go out of town to potentially waste 30m-1hr to get a horse.
So it will just add a competitive aspect, potentially increasing chances of PvP between tamers.

Tbh, Taming and Pet Points should not be a part of action skill tree.
Those benefits e.g. Advanced Creature Control provides should go to specific "beastmaster" action skill subtree, and provide greater benefits to those that rely on combat pets.

Whole pet system needs a revamp overall though. E.g. pet points should be completely removed and replaced with pet "slots".
Player should be able to always have one "pet" slot. For a horse, donkey, small non-aggressive creature, etc.

Combat pets should take different "slots" that get improved with "beastmastery" sub-tree.

Also, "Beastmastery" should provide different active skills that are for combat and unlocked by investing points.
Some extra attacks / commands for the pets would be nice to have.
And you should not be able to command a horse to attack at all without it. Thus solving combat vs profession dillema.

What comes next? Cry for creature control as secondary skill? If you want taming then put the primary points into it. You will need creature control anyway to be able to ride good horses. And controlled riding. Would you like to get sprinting as secondary, too?

Taming has something to do with survival in the wild and therefore belongs to the actions skill.

Yes, why is sprinting a primary, why is creature control, basic skills that everyone needs should be secoundary.
Only skills that you specialise in should requiere primarys.
Like ranged combat, melee combat, mounted combat or magic.
The game only allows one playable character so i need to be able to do the basic things like traveling, moving, bandaging and that not only with a fighter that has spare points but with all the other builds out there.

Right now its .. haha you can only have one character but its a MO1 reskin with a silly huge world so realistically you already need two characters just to be a miner/extractor

We are buying the game and paying the same sub for what amounts to two characters that we paid for four before, so I think making more things secondaries would balance that out somewhat. Or they could instead choose to give us a bunch more primary points.

Agreed. Basic skills should be secondaries and the actual specialisations should be primaries (melee combat, ranged combat, etc...)

Wow two threads in one day saying the map is too big. I am flabbergasted.
