If you get into PVP you mostly will loose your horse and continiue to fight on foot. If the other player had no horse and your horse was young you can´t revive it as a dead pet after the PVP, because you need minimum 4 Stacks Carcass to do so and some young horses only have 3 Stacks + 8560 or so.
