traditional "crafting" playstyle in MO is absolutely boring:

- get resources in mail

- spend few minutes in front of the table

- send crafted items around or in AH

- log out and re-log into some more proactive character

with 3 payed account in MO1 and 12+ characters, the ones i spent more time logged in were my mounted archer (to farm gold and resources, and move things around) and extractor (though mostly in the background, given the super long times of nothing while you wait for extraction to finish.

having more skills between combat and craft/trade means that, even for crafter-oriented playstyle, you can streamline production of some item from resource gathering to process in one character, which makes gameplay more dynamic. though still doesn't make you self-sufficient with one character

additionally, you might be just slightly harder to kill and able to defend yourself (or at least escape) as a crafter now, whereas in MO1 crafters were city or palisade-bound useless slugs that had no other purpose than pressing the button in front of the table. removing this awful archetipe from the game makes the outside world much more dynamic in theory.
