OR maybe they should jsut make haven free that people can look and feel the game first.

before buying would be best option. No free trial bullshit jsut the free small island. that every steam nooby can atleast try it out.
before buying because many people will get turned off buy buying to try a game.

I 100% agree.

Many Vets always complain about empty game. But killing and greefing people out of the game.
That is what im saying since 11 years.

But the People wont change they will still complain about a empty game and no new players. while they keep on slaughtering scamming and harassing new players. So they got themselves in the misery.

I just hope that atleast for that second release of the game that atleast a few people come to common sense and atleast stopping for two months to kill every new player on sight. and stuff.

But we all know that will never happen. So good luck on keeping new players. xD

Let me tell you about my first 12 hours in mortal.

Found the game on steam decided it sounded fun.

Downloaded the game.

I spawned into MK, Noobs everywhere! (thanks to recent steam release)
First time I attacked a pig I was blue blocked by RPK. DEAD.
I respawned tried to leave MK. Gates locked by rpk required gold to open.

I logged out and didn't log back in until a friend agreed to escort me out of MK if I was willing to try it again. We left MK I was slaughtered maybe five minutes outside the gate. I was already completely naked. DEAD by RPK guild.

This time my friend tells me to stay dead and run to Bakti.

RPK is actively murdering and pushing people out of the game. Saying exactly so in text chat.

The only reason I stayed in this game at all is because the guild "Unity". They actively had to defend new people from toxic vets. Even they were eventually pushed out of the game for the same reason newbs leave. It's exhausting dealing with people who are actively destroying new players while complaining non of the vets want to play with them anymore.

Anyway my point is toxic fucking veteran players are the reason this game struggles.

it's game design is decent enough and combat and game play loops are more than enough to keep players engaged and having fun. However if you can't even stay alive long enough to read the screen in a newbie zone you wont ever see any of that stuff that makes the game fun. You only see trolls and toxicity side of it. There is a reason High sec exists in games like Eve. You need some place that is way less profitable but safe enough for a new person to figure out how to walk around swing a sword etc.

Things Like farming nubes in graveyards, or scamming nubes at the auction house, wardecking nube guilds, etc.

Right, if players play the game as an open PvP full loot game it will fail. What a joke.

If players play the game as PVP carebears and there is no counterforce to them, then it will fail!
Farming noobs...how low can one go? No skills needed. Its like steeling a beggars last penny. Then laughing at him and once he got another one, you repeat!

Joah...

You can have whatever opinion on those players that you like and I agree with you assesment. Killing and turturing the helpless for sport is a typical disgusting heathen behaviour. So is the hypocrisy shown by the people making this argument.

As a 7-year vet of MO1 who was there when it launched on Steam back in 2015, I saw it happen, fought (and died to) a RPK player in the MK graveyard, was trapped inside the walls and had to break out of there and leave everything behind - For a time - Until the walls eventually came down.

Sometimes the only way to stay alive longer which I otherwise would not have is to go it alone, learn the hard lessons without anyone to back me up. Thankfully, plenty of players came to my aid by their own volition, in my humble opinion the community is for the most part reasonable, helpful and friendly. To realise that behind every death and every loss, is a gem of knowledge and experience to be gained that would keep me alive next time.

If there was one definitive thing I can say about this game, is that it is a game that rewards players who will push harder against the grain, who will never give up, and rise up again every time they get beaten down.

Yes, it is advertised as a hardcore game.

Although I think that is being taken away bit by bit to the point where the slogan seems cynical.

I would say MO1 is still hardcore though I would agree with you to an extent that certain changes made over the years did take away from that once razor-sharp edge that it had.

Interestingly, EVE Online has been going in the opposite direction as of late by upending what players in the safer Empire space have been used to, and throwing them into the metaphorical shark-infested waters without the shark cage.

100% agree, the double moral of many is astonishing. the thing is that was maybe because of the 4char system. now with the one char system there will be less noob greefers i think. because they no longer not so anonymous like before.

I hope the 1char system will help here!

I don't see double moral here. Its OK to kill new players. MO is hardcore enough. But camping and permakilling new players in a frequent way will keep them away from learning the game and then they might leave. Cause respawning, get killed, respawning, get killed...is a Meehh first experiance.
I just want new players to have a chance and get part of the community.

There will be players caping noobs anyway... its in the DNA of the players and the game.
But please put your hand on your heart and try giving a growing community a chance.

Being priest camped should be a teaching moment. It's part of all phases of the game and a new player needs to learn how to deal with it.

Hiding crucial parts of the game till someone is hooked will only lead to longterm frustration.

Stop it and get your head out of the clouds.

We saw the reviews of 2015. And its simply shit. We saw it in the past it didn't worked so we have to change that in the future or the same shit will happen again.
Enough said.

And even if we go down your hypotheroy argument.
Than whats wrong in having more players actually have a chance to learn and play the game for a few weeks.? Even if most of them will quit.
Atleast they had a chance. And they had the Opportunitiy. So even the dumfuck of players will than come to the conclusion ok its not for me. But that stuff maybe suits some other people more, its not bad but its okay.

And now if you prevent priest camping of noobs.
Than we would have less whiney steam btichez that spread everywhere on the internet that Star Vault is a Company of amateurs and that Mortal Online is one of the Worst Games in MMO history.

If you can prevent such terrible review than you should do that. Because that also drives people away. if someone tells me about game XYZ and I see shit reviews on steam and i see shit reviews on youtube and i read people complaining about an incompetend game dev team. YOu can gues what im not playing. and what most people will never even look at it again. And were most people set it on ignore list and gone forever. 1 potential player less for ever.

Thats why fukcing noob slaughtering must be prevented at all cost.

Or we will end up in an low population, boring empty liveless game with no meaning or reason to do anything and than we will all end up playing tarkov. Or some other shit.

becuase thats the only fucking option left.
And all that just because some retards decided greefed people out of the game is more fun than actually playing the game.

Is "Hard core" just another way of saying empty game and bankruptcy? I remember Wildstar was actively pushing itself as "hard core" to the raid community, and sure that's PVE, but the "Hard core" community didn't really show up, at least not in sustainable numbers.

If MO2 devolves into the gank box that MO1 was (and it will), the game will be living on borrowed time....for the second time.

I mean you said it best. These games are self defeating. I don't want to see the game watered down, but I can say from a business perspective that a gank box probably won't be able to sustain a population for a long period of time. Honestly we can just enjoy the game for as long as it has a population. These games have a short life expectancy which is unfortunate.

If the game was f2p (or one time b2p), it would definitely have a higher influx of players. It's probably not financially possible for them, but the box price AND the sub fee will definitely act as a barrier for many customers. The gank box nature will be an additional filter.

With enough content(pvp, pve,rp,npc stuff and LORE in text and visual) and viable playstyles, I don't think the gank box playstyle of some will deter that many. But if it is release without enough content, it is doomed I'm afraid.

Na, if anything the past has shown that there are enough players with actual balls to play this kind of game without toning down the violence.

The reason why they did not play Mortal was because it was a buggy mess that did not work properly. Not the design. Crucial difference.

Most people left the game because there was nothing for them to do for daily "engagement". That the game was pretty buggy and was often working against them was just something additional.

It's one thing to discuss whether there is too much PvP or not, it's another to say that the game had hardly anything else outside of combat to offer.
MO is a desert of features with a dream of their maybe future implementations.

I support the idea that SV implement some kind of buyable in-game bank tabs. I'd pay an extra 4.99 to get 2 bank tabs across Nave. and an additional 4.99 to make it a 3rd bank tab. Then SV could make some extra cash, and I can actually use the 1 character system to its full potential.

Make more bank space.!

The Empire
Lets just say its been a little while since I last logged in (love the Latin BTW).

I come back to Meduli as seems fitting for me, and I am greeted to an equipment-less experience. To think, a Lord Abbot having to mine ore and....SMELT it? Do these people not know who I am?!

Speaking of not knowing, every Tindremic guard around has the AUDACITY to call ME 'scum!' ME! An outrage!

I'll have them all skinned alive.
